During that time, he also founded Northeast Elite Hockey, a youth hockey league focused on player development; the Walpole Express, which competes at the Junior A Tier III level in the AJHL and Junior B level in the MJHL (as well as offers girls’ and midget teams); the Cranston Reds, which competes in the MJHL at the Junior B level; and the RB Foundation, a charitable organization providing financial assistance to area families in need. In addition, Rob is general manager of the Iorio Arena in Walpole, Massachusetts.
Rob has run skills sessions for local youth organizations such as Hyde Park, Needham, South Boston, Dedham, Braintree, Hingham, Norwood, Weymouth, Westwood, Allston/Brighton, South Shore Kings, Somerville, Providence Jr. Friars, Providence Capitals, Medfield, North Attleboro, Walpole Express, Cranston Reds, BU Terriers, St. Moritz Devils and Northeast Elite Hockey.
As a player, Rob suited up for Somerville High School, where he was the leading scorer as a defenseman and GBL All-Star, and the Lytes Rustlers in the Metro Detroit Hockey League before heading to college. At Salem State College he was a member of the 1994 MASCAC Championship and ECAC East Championship teams, and played in the Division III NCAA Frozen Four. Injuries ultimately forced him out of competitive hockey but allowed him to find his true calling as a coach and industry leader.
Rob resides in Walpole with his wife Chrissy, daughters Sami and Jessi and son Robbie, all of whom play hockey. |
